MSI Technologies Deploys SonicWALL Solutions to Secure Township of Lyndhurst's Network, E-mail, Remote Access and Disaster Recovery Initiatives

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SonicWALL, Inc. , a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced that MSI Technologies, Inc., LLC, has extensively deployed SonicWALL solutions for the Township of Lyndhurst, New Jersey. These SonicWALL solutions form the cornerstone for extensive initiatives undertaken by Mayor Richard DiLascio to bring the township's technology security up to date

"The township was facing a number of challenges, but the mayor had a vision to correct them, and brought MSI in to make it happen," said Joshua Simon, a member of the IT consulting team to the Township of Lyndhurst and Senior Technician of MSI Technologies, a SonicWALL Gold partner. "The SonicWALL product family allows you to customize what you want to do, where you want to do it, and take a multifaceted approach. You're not tied-in to one master product."

MSI's Technical Services Partner, Darren Sammartino, first deployed SonicWALL network security appliances to consolidate the township's network security by establishing a secure VPN tunnel between Town Hall and the Department of Public Works. This change meant that township employees no longer have to manually carry files back and forth on disks.

"It's our policy at MSI to always deploy SonicWALL appliances with all their comprehensive UTM services activated," said Sammartino.

MSI added SonicWALL wireless networking solutions to provide secure Wi-Fi in court offices, staff training classrooms, and public parks. MSI deployed a SonicWALL SSL-VPN appliance so the mayor and other department heads can securely access terminal services from remote locations any time, day or night. Using SonicWALL Email Security, MSI cut Lyndhurst's per-mailbox spam rates from 200 per day to nearly zero. MSI enhanced Lyndhurst's Disaster Recovery responsiveness by replacing an ineffective tape system with a SonicWALL CDP backup and recovery system.

"The flexibility of the SonicWALL products in an environment like Lyndhurst allows an administrator to implement separate technologies across the board for a specific solution," said Simon. "You're able to use higher-level technologies like e-mail security and UTM at a reasonable cost."
