Jewish National Fund (JNF) Deploys Global SonicWALL SSL-VPN 2000 Secure Remote Access Solution to Support Environmental Projects

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SonicWALL, Inc. , a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced Jewish National Fund (JNF), has enhanced its environmental initiatives by establishing global secure remote access to its New York headquarters via a SonicWALL SSL-VPN 2000 secure remote access solution.

JNF employees had begun working more and more outside the office -- whether from home, on the road, at hotels or at remote project sites overseas -- and had become burdened by the limitations of their existing PPTP technology. JNF also sought to provide third-party affiliate users with access to a secure thick-client database of ongoing international JNF projects via a secure extranet. Security was a key solution requirement, as JNF required the extranet to be completely segmented from their LAN.

By integrating the SSL-VPN 2000 with a SonicWALL PRO Series network security appliance, David Forras, JNF's Seniors Systems Engineer, was able to segment off a public IP and create a secure extranet, while still maintaining a physically centralized infrastructure. In addition, SonicWALL's GUI interface was much easier to learn and use. The SSL-VPN 2000 integrates seamlessly into virtually any network topology. With no need for a pre-installed client, deployment and ongoing maintenance costs are eliminated.

"We tried other SSL VPN vendors, like Juniper, but found they were many times the cost for the features we needed," said Forras. "And SonicWALL was much simpler to deploy. I had the SSL-VPN 2000 set up and working by myself in 15 minutes. With Juniper, I had to have an engineer configure it for me."

The SonicWALL SSL-VPN 2000 provides a powerful, easy-to-use and cost-effective secure remote access solution that requires no pre-installed client software. Advanced security functionality such as SSL-encryption, tokenless two factor authentication and rich access-privilege management enabled JNF to implement a secure solution that extended their resources to authorized users over standard Web browsers.

"Our users can now access our internal resources from any location on the planet," said Forras. "This creates a true network without borders -- from a coffee shop in Chicago to a water reservoir in Israel. Our standard laptop for missions to Israel has a 3G broadband card that allows total access to all resources, no matter where the location."

Founded in 1901, JNF is a non-profit and United Nations non-governmental organization (NGO), which has evolved into a global environmental leader by planting 240 million trees, building over 200 reservoirs and dams, developing over 250,000 acres of land, creating more than 1,000 parks, providing the infrastructure for over 1,000 communities, bringing life to the Negev Desert and educating students around the world about Israel and the environment.
