SonicWALL Helps Hollywood Promoter Launch Campaigns
Posted: Mon Sep 21, 2009 03:22:00 PM

SonicWALL, Inc. a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced The Cimarron Group, a Hollywood-based entertainment marketing company specializing in producing and developing promotional campaigns for major motion picture releases, has successfully deployed a SonicWALL Network Security Appliance (NSA) 3500 solution to establish reliable, high-performance security for highly sensitive network traffic.

"I really like the convenience of the NSA 3500 being all-in-one," said Mark Miranda, Chief Information Officer at the Cimarron Group. "I get my firewall, routing, and the security of both deep packet inspection and virus scanning. It's a fantastic one-stop solution."

The Cimarron Group is comprised of separate production divisions for movie trailers, television commercials and movie posters. Due to the potential for leaking sensitive information prior to movie releases, the Cimarron Group must secure a significant amount of confidential client material.

"We pretty much lock everything down with our NSA 3500 firewall, both inbound and outbound," said Miranda. "The NSA 3500 let us easily create address groups for each division, then set firewall rules for their specific access requirements, and add objects as needed."

To accommodate a recent upgrade to a DS3, Miranda has deployed two NSA 3500s in high availability mode to ensure continuous operational performance. The NSA 3500's next-generation Unified Threat Management firewall, utilizing a breakthrough multi-core hardware design with 4 cores and 6 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, provides the Cimarron Group with real-time internal and external network protection without compromising its network performance. Prior to selecting the SonicWALL solution, Miranda also evaluated competitive solutions.

"We were more comfortable with SonicWALL's interface," said Miranda. "SonicWALL was very easy to use and did everything we needed it to do."

By deploying the NSA 3500, Miranda reduced IT overhead costs by eliminating time-consuming administrative tasks.

"In the past, if someone needed access to a specific host, we would have to manually resolve the IP and enter it in the interface," said Miranda. "With the NSA 3500, we just select FQDN, pop in the name, and we're done."

Additionally, the NSA 3500 has made it easier for Miranda to manage 250 users over multiple networks.

"Using the multiple interfaces on the NSA 3500, we just zoned the networks off with individual security privileges, while keeping one central point of administration," said Miranda. "It certainly makes my job easier."

The NSA 3500 combines high-speed intrusion prevention, file and content inspection and powerful application firewall capabilities with an extensive array of advanced networking and configuration flexibility features in an accessible, affordable platform that is easy to deploy and manage in a wide variety of environments.
