SonicWALL, Inc. , a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced that Linda Hall Library, the world's largest privately funded library of science, engineering and technology open to the public, has successfully consolidated a switch, a router and a firewall by upgrading to a single SonicWALL Network Security Appliance (NSA) 2400 Unified Threat Management (UTM) solution. The library, located in Kansas City, Missouri, also enhanced its VPN functionality by upgrading to a SonicWALL SSL-VPN 200 secure remote access appliance.

"The SonicWALL NSA 2400 UTM does the work of the previous firewall appliance, the switch and the router," said Robert Smith, IT Director at the Linda Hall Library.

By consolidating three appliances into one SonicWALL NSA 2400 UTM solution, the library not only increases its network security with a Unified Threat Management firewall, but also reduces the cost of upgrading appliances, as well as the cost of ongoing administration and maintenance.

The SonicWALL NSA 2400 combines high-speed intrusion prevention, file and content inspection and powerful application firewall capabilities with an extensive array of advanced network and configuration flexibility features in an accessible, affordable platform that is easy to deploy and manage in a wide variety of environments. Ideal for small-to-midsize corporate and branch office environments, the NSA 2400 offers best-in-class threat prevention, rapid deployment and lowered Total Cost of Ownership.

"My team spends considerably less time on administration," said Smith. "Updates are all automated and we can administer all our segments over the Web with ease. That makes us very happy."

SonicWALL SSL VPN appliances can provide small and mid-size organizations with easy-to-use, secure and affordable remote access and remote support solutions that requires no pre-installed client software. Utilizing a standard Web browser, authorized users such as employees, contractors, partners and customers, can easily and securely access e-mail, files, intranets, Web and legacy applications and remote desktops from any location.

"The thing we love about SonicWALL is that it is really easy to set up and administer," said Smith. "It just works, and that's really nice."
