SonicWALL Solution Eliminates Over $30,000 in Third-Party Communications Fees. SonicWALL, Inc. , a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced McHenry Savings Bank, a full service financial institution based in McHenry, Illinois, has deployed a SonicWALL E-Class Network Security Appliance (NSA) E5500 solution to establish high-performance LAN and VPN security, resulting in operational savings of over $30,000. "The NSA E5500 gave us all of the throughput we wanted," said Bryan Nash, Senior VP of IT, McHenry Savings Bank. "Even when we turn on all the security functions, including Gateway Antivirus and Intrusion Prevention, we see no degradation in network speed, and no hiccups." Using the NSA E5500, Nash was able to apply the SonicWALL Gateway Security Suite to help the bank comply with Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) standards, without reducing network performance. Nash has deployed two SonicWALL NSA E5500s, with one at the main branch and one offsite. The NSA E5500 serves McHenry Saving Bank's online banking customers for check and statement image rendering, remote deposit for its commercial customers, and e-mail servers for employee remote access. Taking advantage of SonicWALL's Reassembly-free Deep Packet Inspection� engine and an 8-core processor technology providing parallel traffic processing, the NSA E5500 delivers exceptional deep packet inspection performance for the enterprise network environment. Nash has also deployed a dozen SonicWALL TZ series devices throughout the bank branch network for both UTM security and point-to-point VPN connections. "We use the TZs to VPN back to our NSA E5500 over an inexpensive DSL or cable modem, which works very well and keeps costs to a minimum," said Nash. The SonicWALL solution has also enabled Nash to reduce costs in running the bank's ATMs. "Traditionally, we had to pay additional fees to a third party provider to transfer ATM traffic back over a slow dial-up connection," said Nash. "With SonicWALL, we were able to send ATM data securely over the VPN and eliminate the third-party communications fee. That saved us over $30,000." |
